The campaign is supposedly going to be some sort of RPG/strategy/Star Control 2 inspired adventure, which sounds pretty fantastic, although currently it consists of exactly bugger all. People who enjoy sandbox games and do not want to have their hand held through a game. The mechanics will serve as an immersive and intriguing space opera - it only needs to be fleshed out. Nexerelin adds a number of 4X gameplay features to Starsector, such as faction diplomacy and warfare, and enhances the game with several other features. Honestly, the foundations of Starsector are all there. It's been in early access for numerous years while the minuscule team of developers chips away at the ambitious project. Add to that a ship special ability, customizable hardpoints, ammunition and support fighters, and you get a deep and involved space combat system – although I still find it somewhat hard to pilot though, as the battleships handle, well, like battleships, I suppose. Starsector is a game for lovers of the Sci-Fi genre. It's worthwhile to note that Starsector is not yet a completed game. They have an elegant mechanic for managing a single resource (flux) in combat – your ship can only handle so much of it at once (without overloading) and your weapons and shields generate it. Steams cut is progressive, which means the more total earned the less they take. The game is basically just a space combat simulator at the moment – you get to give some rudimentary orders to your fleet, and then you can take control of one of the spaceships and crush some heads. it'll make starsector more popular thus boosting income for the devs SkipDisaster Is steam the place for indie games Achievements and trading cards are used to drive sales, but are not what the game designer wants to waste his time doing. The developers unfortunately chose to use the worst programming language ever, but the upside is that the game has a surprisingly strong modding community (Stockholm syndrome in action). Someone on the SA Forums made a rather fantastic thread advertising a game called Starsector, which is currently in early access alpha for a very reasonable price. Starsector features different ship tech that generally operate differently from one another. I have always had a soft spot for space games, so I tend to break my rules about never playing indie games when it comes to anything with spaceships.
